The mini SUV is expected to debut at the Auto Expo 2023
The much anticipated 5-door version of the cult icon Suzuki Jimny may finally come to light this year. Rumors of a prototype car being prepared for Auto Expo 2023 spread after photos of a suspected road test leaked.
According to Autocar India, the spy photos of the “Kinetic Yellow” Jimny were taken somewhere in North India hinting at its global debut. This should come as a pleasant surprise as the hype for a 5-door version of the popular mini SUV had been brewing for years.
Reports predict the new 5-door Jimny to measure around 3,850mm in length, extending its wheelbase by 300mm at 2,550mm, compared to the 2,250mm wheelbase of the standard 3-door version. But aside from the additional doors and a bigger bodyshell, more information is yet to be revealed about the latest version of the Jimny.
The introduction of the 5-door Jimny is not only a follow-up to the success of the latest version of the Jimny. The response came after the rising demand for compact crossovers and mini SUVs surged, and Suzuki's Jimny and Vitara models are among the most popular models in the market.
